O l i v i a

There is nothing sweeter than a new friend just hanging around the house.
Please meet my newest little bunny

" O L I V I A "

She has been busy doing the laundry today and tiding up the craft room.
A girls work is never done!

Blankets are all I seem to be working on these days so I thought I would take a
little break. I pulled out my bunny pattern yesterday and cut this one out in white
and made her little jumper outfit last night while watching "My Best Friends Wedding"
with Julia Roberts....I love that movie.

This is her shopping dress that needed a little cleaning for something got on it
so on the line it has to go for drying.

It has been smothering  H O T  around here lately those
long floppy ears just had to go up.

Didn't she come out cute?
I think so!

Rainbow Burst

Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing well.
Thanks so much for all the sweet comments on my Lime Sherbert blanket. It all means so much to have such sweet and thoughtful friends. I am also so happy to see that I have some new followers here at Kashmere Kisses, so a big Welcome goes to you. I sure hope to have many little chat with all of you as well.

I have started on "YES"...  another blanket.
This one is just full of Rainbow colors and boy am I loving it.
I stopped off at a yard sale a few days ago and there was a small bag full of small
balls of yarn all mixed up together for $1.00 and thought they all looked so nice like that so some inspiration came to me very quickly.

This is what I have so far......a very simple easy pattern, great for any beginner, using up colors
and joining your basic granny square is the way this one will go.

I have 96 squares already made and joined together and have only about quad-zillon more to go!
I will try to keep you updated as much as I can, but this one might take me awhile to finish.
It's going to be a big one!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
I'll be back soon.

I am leaving you with more of my Flicker favorites. If you are on Flicker, come over and join me!

Lime Sherbert

A lazy Sunday has kept me from doing anything other than adding
the finishing touches to my latest blanket.
reminds me of a full bowl of Lime Sherbert ice cream with cherries on top.

It's not as big as I wish it would be, I ran out of the green.
Note to self.....
always buy one more of each color even if you think you might not need it

Now it sits among the other blankets and quilts that are slowly taking over my
quilt closet.

This makes number 10 so far this year....minus one that is in Lauren's room
and the cream color one I made for my sofa. You can see H E R E

Don't you think they look so lovely all stacked up together???
My goal is to fill up my cabinet by the end of the year so I guess that is why I seem
to work only on blankets lately.

Just a quick simple post today.
I am grilling pork chops in the oven so I must keep it short.
I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday to.
It's raining again here today so it's just a pj and ponytail kind of day!
I am so happy you stopped by for a quick visit.
It always makes my day!

Little Summer Dresses

Today I just realized we are now into the month of JUNE and MAY has passed with a blink of an eye.
Where did it go? I don't know..... I missed it!
I will blame this loss of memory on a disability that I think I might have due to the fact I am getting older and my kids seem to be driving me crazy more and more each day and there seem to be more things to do now than there were when school was in but....who knows....or maybe it's because I have been playing around with way to much yarn and fabric that my days and nights are getting mixed up due to the fact we don't have to get up early any more because of summer break.
That sounds good....we will just blame it on that and not the fact that I might be suffering on short term memory loss!

Anyways....
now that we are into the month of JUNE, it is officially summer here in Louisiana.
Our days are full of rain showers hit or miss with low humidity and smothering heat.
Its time to pull out all of cut-off jeans, t-shirts, tank tops, flip-flops, bathing suits...which I will never wear again!...(everything went south after Garrett)....baseball caps, ponytail holders, sunscreen, and beach towels....
just to name a few!

But the one thing that reminds me of summer is cute little summer dresses.
I was cleaning out the closet in my craft room today as I was looking for items above and look what I stumbled upon....I made this little sweet summer dress about 2years ago and forgot all about it.
It was hanging way in the back of the closet.

Way back in the closet is not where this belong. I can not remember where I got the pattern but am sure I have it tucked away on my crochet Pinterest board somewhere.  As soon as I have time to sit I will be on the hunt for it so I can let you know if interested and plus I think I would like to make another and take a break from working on all these blankets.

It also has a matching little jacket with a front tie.
I so wish I could make one like this for myself but have learned from past experiences, I am not good at making clothes for myself.

I do remember the yarn I used. It's made out of Baby Soft Yarn that can be found at Wal-Mart.
It's not cotton but sure does feel like it. So soft and very light weight.
I just love the lacy pattern which makes it perfect for a warm summers day.

Then after digging some more a little further back....I found another.....

This one has so much detail I liked to lost my mind when making.
The top section was the worst!

But with a lot of patience it all came together so sweetly!

Well that's all for today. Due to my lack of consternation today....
supper will be ready late!
Tomorrow, Lauren has an orthodontics appointment and then a trip to the AT&T
store....her dad said if she passed she would get a new phone....
and she did!
I can not believe she will be a "Sophomore"
and Garrett will be starting Kindergarten.......

what am I going to do????

What's Next

What do you do when you finish with one project....
is to just jump right in with another!!!

I bought some new yarn in some colors that I
N E V E R   B U Y!
Those of you who know this blog well, know that I love white and hardly ever
venture away from it but lately....
color is all I see!

`
I had so much fun working on my last blanket with all those colors, I thought
it would be fun to throw some more color into this one.
Also, I strayed away from cotton....just a little. The pink, cream, and green are

C A R O N    Y A R N

but the white is of course cotton.

P E A C H E S     A N D     C R E M E

Whatcha think so far???
Don't these colors look yummy?
this green not only looks yummy, it sounds yummy!

Not sure what will come of it....thinking maybe a table runner this time
but if I have fun making these pretty little squares it just might end up to be
Yes.... another blanket!

I am using the "flat braid" joining method as I go.
I can't believe how easy this is!!

 See you again soon!

Scrappy Striped Crochet Blanket* Complete!

After contemplating on how this blanket would go....starting over needless to say several times....trying to keep it as simple as possible,  not wanting to worry about counting a single stitch, I started with a row of 220 single crochet stitches.... I continue on while watching movies, in the car at school pickup, at volleyball practices, doctors visits, outside on the swing while Garrett plays and into the late hours of the night.....it grew.. and grew and now I can happily say,
it's finished!

Pretty little stripes in shades of green, blues, pinks, purples, with larger sections of cream
slanted shells stitches.
I tried to lay it all out but all the photos came out blurry so I hope you can see all the
pretty stitches while it's laid across my chair.

I don't want to bore you all with a bunch of photos for this is the only thing I have really been showing you all for the last couple of weeks so I will keep the rest of this post short and sweet.

Crocheting Tips: Hiding Knots/Changing Colors

Good Morning everyone. I hope all are well today. Thanks so much for all the lovely comments on my last post. My blanket is coming along rather nicely, growing by the day. I know some of you wish to see it all laid out but it's just not quite big enough to show you. No worries..soon....very soon , and you shall see it all in it's glory. It is the only project I am currently working on and I must say, I am loving it more and more with each stitch.

I did come across a little bump in the road along the way, one I am sure most of you have stumbled across yourself one time or another. Don't you just love when you are just stitching along every so happily when all of a sudden you come across a not so lovely knot!!! ....which makes you want to say a not so nice word because you will have to then pull that whole entire row out so you won't have a little ugly knot in the middle of your project......

Well.....I found a solution!
Maybe it's not new for some of you who have been wise enough to figure this out, but would like to show you how " I" fixed my problem.

With this new blanket, I am changing colors quite often throughout, sometime right smack in the middle mind you." Why not just go from one end to another to deleted this problem?" you may ask, but I wanted this blanket to look even more scrappy than usual, plus most of it is made out of very small scraps of yarn, not long enough to go from end to end.
So, with that said, lets move on.....

I think this is a great little tutorial for I will show you two things in one...

H O W    T O    C H A N G E    C O L O R S
&
H I D E    K N O T S

As you can see in this photo, I am changing colors right in the middle....I do not want a knot right there so let me show you what I came up with....
First let me tell you, I am single crocheting throughout this whole blanket which will make this little tip easier for you to follow and sure if you are using any other stitch, it can be done in the same manner.

In this first photo below...I am stopping my work for it did have a knot, I had already cut it off before I took this photo, so sorry for that, and since that happen I will go ahead and change colors. Leaving a medium size tail and leaving one loop on my hook, I will now add a new color.

With your second color, if you are changing colors, or if not, just pick up your same color and make a long loop.....
I am adding a pink color....place aside for just a minute....

make a single crochet stitch, but do not pull through....you should have two
loops on your hook.....

now grab your new color or existing color and place it on your hook.....
pull through the two loops on your hook.

now grab onto your two tails and give a little tug...not a big tug, just enough to secure it.

push both tails towards the back of your work.....
single crochet with your new color or existing color into the very next single crochet....
again pull your tails slightly to keep secure.....

this is the back after you make that single crochet.....

continue on making your single crochets until you reached the end or just keep traveling with your project....

See.....N O  K N O T!

It's just as smooth as the rest of your work.

Now flip your work to the back side and weave in your tails along the same color.
I did with the pink going one way and the blue going the next.
I used a smaller crochet hook to do mine for I can not find my tapestry needle which would work also, which ever you prefer.

all finished!

can't even tell I cut the string or that there and might have been a knot there!

Easy peasy!

I hope you enjoyed this little tip of mine. If you have any questions please let me know.
I hope it wasn't too confusing for you.
I even tested this on another project before I should you and so far it's working.
Just remember to leave your tails long enough to work with so you can weave them in and should hold up for you...

Hope you all have a lovely weekend,
so glad you stop by for a visit!
