Good Morning everyone. I hope all are well today. Thanks so much for all the lovely comments on my last post. My blanket is coming along rather nicely, growing by the day. I know some of you wish to see it all laid out but it's just not quite big enough to show you. No worries..soon....very soon , and you shall see it all in it's glory. It is the only project I am currently working on and I must say, I am loving it more and more with each stitch.
I did come across a little bump in the road along the way, one I am sure most of you have stumbled across yourself one time or another. Don't you just love when you are just stitching along every so happily when all of a sudden you come across a not so lovely knot!!! ....which makes you want to say a not so nice word because you will have to then pull that whole entire row out so you won't have a little ugly knot in the middle of your project......
Well.....I found a solution!
Maybe it's not new for some of you who have been wise enough to figure this out, but would like to show you how " I" fixed my problem.
With this new blanket, I am changing colors quite often throughout, sometime right smack in the middle mind you." Why not just go from one end to another to deleted this problem?" you may ask, but I wanted this blanket to look even more scrappy than usual, plus most of it is made out of very small scraps of yarn, not long enough to go from end to end.
So, with that said, lets move on.....
I think this is a great little tutorial for I will show you two things in one...
H O W T O C H A N G E C O L O R S
&
H I D E K N O T S
As you can see in this photo, I am changing colors right in the middle....I do not want a knot right there so let me show you what I came up with....
First let me tell you, I am single crocheting throughout this whole blanket which will make this little tip easier for you to follow and sure if you are using any other stitch, it can be done in the same manner.
In this first photo below...I am stopping my work for it did have a knot, I had already cut it off before I took this photo, so sorry for that, and since that happen I will go ahead and change colors. Leaving a medium size tail and leaving one loop on my hook, I will now add a new color.
With your second color, if you are changing colors, or if not, just pick up your same color and make a long loop.....
I am adding a pink color....place aside for just a minute....
make a single crochet stitch, but do not pull through....you should have two
loops on your hook.....
now grab your new color or existing color and place it on your hook.....
pull through the two loops on your hook.
now grab onto your two tails and give a little tug...not a big tug, just enough to secure it.
push both tails towards the back of your work.....
single crochet with your new color or existing color into the very next single crochet....
again pull your tails slightly to keep secure.....
this is the back after you make that single crochet.....
continue on making your single crochets until you reached the end or just keep traveling with your project....
See.....N O K N O T!
It's just as smooth as the rest of your work.
Now flip your work to the back side and weave in your tails along the same color.
I did with the pink going one way and the blue going the next.
I used a smaller crochet hook to do mine for I can not find my tapestry needle which would work also, which ever you prefer.
all finished!
can't even tell I cut the string or that there and might have been a knot there!
Easy peasy!
I hope you enjoyed this little tip of mine. If you have any questions please let me know.
I hope it wasn't too confusing for you.
I even tested this on another project before I should you and so far it's working.
Just remember to leave your tails long enough to work with so you can weave them in and should hold up for you...
Hope you all have a lovely weekend,
so glad you stop by for a visit!
